ADAPTATIONS OF THE FLORA

The flora is the

STRUCTURAL ADAPTATIONS

  • Camellias have the adaptation of being able to change the structure of the body and leafs to become thinner or thicker as the elevation changes.
  • Olive trees have long root systems which help them to get access to ground water. Also, their small leathery leafs prevent water loss through transpiration.

BEHAVIORAL ADAPTATIONS

  • Camellias can create a mutualistic relationship with Aomermycota fungi that helps them gain a larger surface area within their root system, and retain more water and nutrients.
  • The mimosa will fold its leaves down when a herbivore begins to eat it, so the thorns by the leafs on the stem become exposed.
